BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday the Serbian average wage had been at 1,057 euros in December, exceeding the 1,000 euro mark for the first time.

Vucic also said a Serbia 2030-2035 development plan was being finalised and due to be unveiled between March 6 and 10.

Vucic said the plan was comprehensive and extremely complicated.

"By saying complicated, (I mean that) it will not only be about milk and honey flowing, but about all the things we must do and how much we must change to achieve certain results," Vucic said at the Palace of Serbia after the opening of the Threads of Statehood exhibition, dedicated to Serbia's intangible cultural heritage.

He said Belgrade, Novi Sad and Bor were the leaders in terms of wages and that the government would have to address ways to raise the living standards in southern, central, southwestern and western Serbia.

"But above all, in Banat municipalities in the north of Serbia, and even in some municipalities in Backa, Srem. We will have to look into ways to increase the citizens' incomes and living standards," Vucic said.

Vucic: Suspects arrested in Kraljevo wanted to kill children

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday he did not know who the people who had planned to assassinate him and his family were, but that he knew their age and where they were from, and added that evidence showed that they wanted to beat up and kill one of his children.

Responding to questions from reporters about two men who have been arrested in Kraljevo on suspicion of planning to assassinate him and his family, Vucic said there was evidence of this on footage.

"I see that there are around 70 people who are calling for their release. They (the suspects) are people who want to kill someone else's children, we have evidence of that on footage," he said.

Vucic said the reason for the suspects' actions was based on "lies they have read somewhere."

"There are many people who become heroes on social media networks, where everything is becoming permitted," Vucic said, adding that he did not believe he and his family were an exception.

"In this case, it is somewhat more notable due to support coming also from mainstream media," he said.

The Serbian Interior Ministry said on Monday the police, in collaboration with the Security and Information Agency, had arrested two people from Kraljevo on suspicion of planning a violent change of Serbia's constitutional order and an assassination of the president of the Republic.
