Vucic thanks Kazakh PM for cordial welcome in Astana

ASTANA - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who arrived in Astana on Thursday on a two-day official visit to Kazakhstan, thanked Kazakh PM Olzhas Bektenov for sincerely welcoming him at the city's airport.

"Grateful to PM Olzhas Bektenov for the cordial welcome and glad that I will meet with a great personal friend of mine and a great friend of Serbia, President Kassym Jomart Tokayev, with whom I will discuss all significant issues of importance and of interest to Serbia and Kazakhstan," Vucic posted on Instagram.

At the airport, Vucic was greeted by Bektenov and Astana Mayor Jenis Qasymbek. After entering Kazakh airspace, Vucic's presidential plane was escorted by three Su-30 Kazakh Air Force jets.

Vucic arrives in Astana on official visit to Kazakhstan

ASTANA - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic arrived in Astana on Thursday on an official visit to Kazakhstan.

At the Astana airport, Vucic was greeted by Kazakh PM Olzhas Bektenov and Mayor Jenis Qasymbek.

After entering Kazakh airspace, Vucic's presidential plane was escorted by three Su-30 Kazakh Air Force jets.

During the two-day visit, Vucic will meet with Kazakh President Kassym Jomart Tokayev and Bektenov.

Serbia and Kazakhstan will sign ten memorandums on cooperation in health care, the judiciary, culture, science and the IT sector, and Vucic and Tokayev will also adopt a joint statement.

Vucic will be awarded the Order of the Golden Eagle, Kazakhstan's top state honour.

A Serbian delegation accompanying Vucic includes Minister of Internal and External Trade Jagoda Lazarevic, Minister without portfolio in charge of international economic cooperation and the social position of the church at home and abroad Nenad Popovic and the head of the Office for eGovernment and IT Mihailo Jovanovic.

Serbia and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on December 10, 1996.
