BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received on Tuesday a delegation of China's Hebei province, headed by Governor Wang Zhengpu, as well as HBIS Group Chairman Liu Jian.

Vucic noted that the discussion had been substantial, addressing advancement of bilateral cooperation in the steel industry, modernisation of production capacities, application of modern technologies and boosting the competitiveness of the Serbian economy.

"An open and substantial discussion with the governor of China's Hebei province and the HBIS Group chairman about further strengthening of overall cooperation between Serbia and the People's Republic of China, with special focus on industrial development, new investments and the future of joint projects that are of great importance for our country," Vucic posted on Instagram after the meeting.

"I especially noted that, today, economic ties between our countries have a strong and measurable result, which is best indicated by the fact that China is one of Serbia's most important economic partners and the second-largest foreign investor in our country with cumulative investments totalling more than 7.3 bln euros, as well as that the total goods and services exchange exceeded 10.6 bln dollars in 2025," Vucic noted.

Vucic also spoke about the significance of companies operating in Serbia, contributing to growth of exports, employment and further development of industrial capacities.

"I am confident that, together, we will continue to build new projects and solidify economic ties further, to the benefit of Serbian citizens," Vucic noted.

He reiterated that Serbia highly appreciated the steely friendship with China and with its President Xi Jinping, which he noted had been confirmed in the best and the toughest times alike.

"I am confident that, with mutual trust, respect and responsible work, we will continue to achieve results that bring concrete benefits to our citizens and further strengthen overall relations between our countries," Vucic concluded.
