MADRID - EXPO 2027 Belgrade is our biggest growth opportunity and we will present Serbia in the right way at the event, Serbian First Deputy PM and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali has told the Spanish El Mundo daily in an interview.

Speaking about Serbia's EU accession, Mali said a decision on the matter would be a political one but that Serbia would do everything to become a member state.

"Different countries seek different sources of growth: ways to develop their economies, ways to promote themselves, ways to contribute to development. For us, this is exactly that. We are conducting a very successful economic policy. Two years ago, we were the third fastest-growing economy in Europe. We will have between 130 and 140 participants at the EXPO. We will establish even better relations with those countries and present Serbia in the right way," Mali said.

He noted that he viewed Europe as a continent and that EXPO 2027 would be the world's largest event next year and the best place to gather again to exchange visions of getting together.

He said EXPO 2027 was a great opportunity for the EU and European countries to unite.

"I hope that all conflicts will be over by that time and that we will be able to show something different, to speak about the future, new technologies, new investments and everything that is important for the future of the continent and Europeans," Mali said.
