NOVI SAD - The head of the Vojvodina provincial government Maja Gojkovic met on Thursday in Novi Sad with a delegation of China's Hebei province, headed by Governor Wang Zhengpu.
The parties noted that firm foundations were in place for strengthening the cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
In a statement, the government of the Vojvodina province said they had agreed there were possibilities for further strengthening of economic cooperation, especially in trade and tourism, as well as in higher education, through establishing stronger ties between universities and exchanges of students and researchers, and in sports, with emphasis on forging ties among young people.
Gojkovic noted that Serbia-China relations were at an all-time high and that the two countries maintained mutual understanding and support on the most significant matters.
"The visit by the Hebei delegation to the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina is of exceptional political importance. I am confident that today's meeting will advance bilateral cooperation further and open up new possibilities for carrying out joint projects and for further economic growth," she said.
Gojkovic also noted that 12 Chinese companies with a total workforce of 2,806 people and investments totalling 1.062 bln euros were operating in the Vojvodina province.
Zhengpu noted that the cooperation with the Serbian province was very important for Hebei and that the ties established to date were a good foundation for further strengthening of overall relations between the two provinces.
He added that the Serbia-China partnership was developing continuously towards concrete results, new investments and increasingly strong ties between the two economies, and that Hebei and the Vojvodina province had an important role in that.
