BELGRADE - The position of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians is that there is no need for early parliamentary elections and that stability, predictability and development are the number one priority, the party's leader Balint Pastor said on Friday.
Pastor was speaking to reporters in Belgrade after representatives of the Alliance held consultations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at the Presidency of Serbia.
"Preparations for the EXPO are underway, it is the most significant project in Serbia in decades, and we think this is no time for early elections and that there is no need for early elections. But if elections do take place, and they can take place on May 31 at the earliest, we are absolutely ready for those elections," Pastor said, adding that, as in the past, the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians would run on its own in parliamentary polls, whenever they took place.
He also said the party's position was that Serbia's future was in the EU regardless of the EU's treatment of the entire Western Balkan region.
