BELGRADE - Military Security Agency chief Djuro Jovanic said on Sunday Serbian security agencies had carried out a successful action in the territory of the Kanjiza municipality, northern Serbia, where a large quantity of explosives had been found near the Turkish Stream international gas pipeline, and that they had had information that a military-trained individual from a group of migrants would attempt to carry out a diversion on gas infrastructure.
"What we were facing on a daily basis is a large quantity of disinformation, mostly about the timing and the method of carrying out the act itself, the attempted diversion. Today, after a successful action, we are facing disinformation. We are looking for that individual, and that individual will certainly be apprehended. The only question is whether that will last three days or several months," Jovanic said.
He noted that the Military Security Agency and other agencies would continue to work on the case and perform their task consistently.
Earlier in the day, Prosecutor Mladenka Manojlovic from the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Subotica said the case had been qualified as a criminal offence of illicit manufacture, carrying and distribution of arms and explosives in conjunction with the crime of diversion.
