BELGRADE - We, the Voice from the People whip in the Serbian parliament Branko Pavlovic said on Monday the party was not in favour of going to early parliamentary elections in May or June as it believed the electoral process must be improved first and the citizens' trust in elections restored.

"Our position is that swift elections in May or June would be bad as we would not have time to do all that is possible to raise the citizens' trust in the electoral process," Pavlovic told reporters after the party's consultations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, adding that, in case the elections took place in November or December, "that would give us a chance to fix things if we work intensively in the months preceding the elections."

He said the discussion with the president had been interesting and constructive and that the party had made proposals aimed at boosting the citizens' trust in the electoral process.

Pavlovic said the discussion with Vucic had also addressed Serbia's international position and that both sides had agreed it was complex.
