BELGRADE- EXPO 2027 Director Danilo Jerinic said on Thursday that, to date, 138 countries had confirmed their participation in specialised EXPO 2027 in Belgrade and that more than 120 countries were working actively on their pavilions and programmes, and noted that the EXPO would transform the way Belgrade was developing, as well as the way Serbia was positioning itself internationally.

Jerinic said a meeting of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) would be held early next week.

"That is an important moment as it shows that the project is being monitored at the highest international level and that every step goes through clearly defined procedures and standards," Jerinic told Blic.

"What is currently being done for the EXPO is not important only for 2027, but for the years to come," he said.

Jerinic said the EXPO had never been conceived as a one-off event but as a platform that was already operational and that Serbia was not only preparing an expo, but building space for cooperation that would connect states, companies and institutions.

He noted that EXPO 2027 Belgrade went beyond national boundaries and was backed by 184 BIE member states, with 138 countries already confirmed as participants.

"That clearly positions the EXPO as a global project and Belgrade as one of the world's key meeting points in 2027 - politically, diplomatically, in terms of business, culturally and technologically," Jerinic said.
