BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Czech Parliament Speaker Tomio Okamura in Belgrade on Thursday to discuss opportunities for further development of overall bilateral relations and deepening of parliamentary cooperation.

In an Instagram post, Vucic wrote that the meeting with Okamura had addressed all topics of interest to the two countries.

"During the meeting, I also showed to my esteemed interlocutor the Belgrade Waterfront - one of the most important development projects, which has transformed the image of the capital and has become a symbol of Serbia's accelerated modernisation," Vucic added.

He noted that they had agreed that bilateral economic cooperation had seen dynamic development in the past several years, along with an increase in goods and services trade and a rising inflow of Czech investments in Serbia.

"We will continue to advance cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, above all, in the field of energy and mining, transport and infrastructure, agriculture, tourism and the automotive industry," Vucic noted.

He added that he had exchanged views with Okamura on Serbia's EU path, and that he had thanked Czechia for its continuous support for Serbia, bilaterally and as part of European formats recognising the importance of enlargement and stability in the Western Balkans.

Vucic especially thanked Okamura for his understanding of the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, as well as for his friendly stance towards the Serbs.

"We are glad Czechia has confirmed its participation in the specialised international EXPO 2027, which we see as another confirmation of the friendship between our countries and of a joint commitment to strengthening economic, innovation and cultural ties," the president added.
