Pristina indicts eight people in absentia for alleged Djakovica war crimes

PRISTINA - The so-called special prosecutor's office in Pristina on Wednesday indicted eight people in absentia for alleged war crimes against civilians in Djakovica during the 1999 conflict in Kosovo-Metohija.
In a statement, the indictees were identified by the initials M K, V M, D R, Z D, C B, M I, S S and S K.
Under the indictment, they are suspected of allegedly "killing and expelling civilians and destroying and looting their property" in Djakovica between March 24 and March 31, 1999 during a large-scale operation, acting in complicity and coordination with "police, military and paramilitary structures."
The indictment said 65 civilians were suspected to have been killed in the operation, with 12 others reported missing.
