Macut, Greek culture minister discuss advancement of cultural cooperation

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut received Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni in Belgrade on Friday to discuss advancement of cultural cooperation between the two countries, preservation of cultural heritage and strengthening of institutional ties between Serbia and Greece.
"Macut stated that Serbia and Greece are linked by traditionally friendly relations, mutual respect and closeness of the two peoples, underlining that culture represents one of the most important bridges of cooperation and understanding," a government statement said.
"The Prime Minister assessed that there is significant room for further enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of culture, especially through the development of new joint programmes and initiatives that will contribute to stronger connections between young people and further deepening of friendly ties between the two countries.
Macut expressed the hope that Serbia and Greece will continue to develop partnership relations in the spirit of friendship, mutual understanding and common European values.
The meeting looked at the possibilities of intensifying cooperation between national institutions of culture and joint projects in the field of protection and promotion of cultural heritage.
Mendoni underlined that Greece attaches great importance to cooperation with Serbia in the field of culture and assessed that the two countries have strong historical and spiritual ties that represent a good basis for the further strengthening of partnership and the implementation of joint projects," it also said.
