Vucic meets with Mirziyoyev

BAKU - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the World Urban Forum in Baku on Monday.

"A substantial and friendly discussion with President Mirziyoyev about current global topics, as well as about further advancement of Serbia-Uzbekistan bilateral relations, especially about strengthening the cooperation in the fields of economy, infrastructure, energy, digitalisation and sustainable development," Vucic posted on Instagram after the meeting.

"There is great potential for stepping up joint work in the energy sector, in construction of modern infrastructure and in connecting our markets through new transport and logistic corridors, in view of the growing significance of the Eurasian region for trade and investments," Vucic added.

He noted that Serbia attached great importance to the cooperation with Uzbekistan and appreciated the fact the country had confirmed its participation in EXPO 2027 Belgrade. "I believe that, through joint work, we will further strengthen the political and economic ties between our countries, and open a new stage of the strategic partnership," Vucic wrote in the post.

Vucic: Discussion with Ruto was not easy, we will try to build better relations with Kenya

BAKU - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday his discussion with Kenyan President William Ruto in Baku earlier in the day had not been easy and that they had discussed Kenya's recent recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, but that Serbia would be looking to build better, more successful relations with Kenya.

Vucic said he had previously been aware of Kenya's reasons for recognising the so-called Kosovo.

"I asked him, but I knew the reason - I have spoken about that reason in the past, about the presence of businesspeople and their activities in Kenya. I have already discussed that with him at the UN and asked him that they (Kenya) do not do that, and he told me that he should have called me," Vucic told Serbian reporters.

He said Serbia would be looking to build the best possible relations with Kenya and maintain mutual respect. "

I invited him to come to Serbia, and I believe they will open an embassy in Belgrade after many, many, many decades. I believe that we can slowly build and establish new, better and more successful relations, in keeping with what we used to be building in the past," Vucic said.

Vucic: At EXPO 2027, we will present platform with innovative solutions for cities

BAKU - Addressing the 13th World Urban Forum in Baku, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that a platform with creative and innovative solutions to problems faced by cities around the world would be presented at the specialised EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, to be held under the theme of Play for Humanity - Sport and Music for All.

"Belgrade will provide an exceptional platform for more than 140 countries of the world to present to the world their creative and innovative solutions through music and sports. At the same time, we are proud of the fact that EXPO 2027 in Belgrade will provide an opportunity to showcase concrete innovative solutions that can help ease urban traffic congestion, advance sustainable mobility and improve the quality of life of citizens, including new generations of electric aircraft and smart transport systems. I look, dear friends, forward to seeing you at EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, and once again, many thanks for your beautiful reception and great hospitality," Vucic said in the address.

Cities are increasingly becoming hubs of economic growth, production, innovation, education, learning, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, he said.

Vucic noted that, without cities and urban areas, the world on our planet would be unimaginable but that, at the same time, cities reflected globalisation and faced numerous problems that existed in today's civilisation.

Increasingly frequently, cities face the problems of overpopulation, inadequate housing and uncontrolled pollution, he said.
