BELGRADE - State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nevena Jovanovic met with NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General Kevin Hamilton in Belgrade on Monday.

"The meeting focused on the partnership cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Alliance, implemented within the framework of the Partnership for Peace programme, in accordance with Serbia’s policy of military neutrality and with the aim of achieving the shared interest of preserving peace and stability in the region," the MFA said in a statement.

"State Secretary Jovanovic particularly emphasised that, for the Republic of Serbia, the continued engagement of international security forces in Kosovo-Metohija in an undiminished scope and capacity is of utmost importance. She conveyed the expectation of the Serbian side that the KFOR Mission will maintain its status-neutral posture and, in line with its mandate, act proactively in order to preserve security and protect the Serbian population in the area," it said.

The parties also agreed on the importance of a joint Serbia-NATO military exercise taking place in Serbia from May 11 through 23.
