NEW YORK - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with Kyrgyz FM Jeenbek Kulubaev on the sidelines of a UN Security Council session on Tuesday.
Djuric said Serbia and Kyrgyzstan were "connected by traditionally good and friendly relations" and expressed gratitude for Kyrgyzstan’s "principled and consistent support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as for its policy based on respect for international law," the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
"Djuric emphasised that Serbia pursues an independent foreign policy and is actively strengthening relations both regionally and globally despite complex international circumstances.
He highlighted the importance of preserving balance in international relations, maintaining strong ties with numerous partners, including the countries of Central Asia, and remaining committed to further cooperation with friendly states.
The interlocutors noted that, despite the geographical distance between the two countries, there is mutual interest in further enhancing bilateral relations and economic cooperation," the ministry said.
"Djuric welcomed Kyrgyzstan’s decision to confirm its participation in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, stressing that the event will provide an opportunity to showcase the country’s economic potential.
He also underscored the importance of holding political consultations between the two foreign ministries, which contribute to strengthening mutual understanding, advancing cooperation, and further developing bilateral relations," it also said.
