ANDORRA LA VELLA - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic, who visited Andorra on Friday, said she hoped Serbia-Andorra relations would be much better in the future and that it was important to advance bilateral political ties.

Brnabic said much better cooperation in international institutions, primarily in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, was one of the fundamental goals of her visit.

She said the Kosovo-Metohija issue had been discussed as well and that it was important that Andorra understood the situation in the province.

There needs to be a strong, united front against Pristina becoming a Council of Europe member, she added.

"We have not forgotten about that, we are working on that and fighting for that. It is completely clear that, without a Community of Serb Municipalities and some other things, no serious country should allow itself to be pushing for Pristina's membership in any international organisation, let alone in the Council of Europe," Brnabic noted.

She said her meetings in Andorra had been very good and that she had received assurances the country would assess the situation in a much better way, which she noted was exceptionally important.

"I hope the Andorran parliament speaker will pay a return visit to Serbia soon. No country should be neglected. We need partners on all sides. We need to have those who support us and understand us. We need to open all communication channels that are important to Serbia and, hence, a speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia is in Andorra for the first time in history," Brnabic said.
