Vucic receives president of UAE Federal National Council

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with the President of the UAE Federal National Council Saqr Ghobash in Belgrade on Tuesday, noting that joint projects in the past years had lent a strong impetus to a Serbia-UAE partnership and that the UAE was one of Serbia's most significant partners in the Gulf region.

"A cordial and substantial discussion with the President of the UAE Federal National Council Saqr Ghobash on overall bilateral relations, further strengthening of political dialogue, economic cooperation, investments, trade exchange and joint projects that have lent a strong impetus to our partnership in the past years," Vucic posted on Instagram.

He noted that the relations between the two countries were the best proof of how much mutual trust, stability and a long-term vision could bring concrete results.

Vucic also said he had reiterated enormous gratitude to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan, a sincere and proven friend of Serbia, for his great support and personal engagement on deepening the close and friendly ties between Serbia and the UAE.

"As one of today's greatest global leaders, in all the difficult times, he has proved what it means to be a friend and a dependable partner we have always been able to rely on," Vucic added.

He noted that, in the discussion with Ghobash, special attention had been devoted to the current global and regional political situations, the situation in the Middle East in particular, as well as to the significance of preserving peace, stability, dialogue and a responsible approach in a time of major challenges.

"I noted that Serbia is exceptionally appreciative of the UAE's role as an important and influential actor committed to stability, development and connectivity. We also discussed advancement of parliamentary cooperation as an important part of the overall relations between our countries," Vucic posted.

He added that he was confident that continued close political dialogue and cooperation at all levels would further strengthen the Serbia-UAE friendship and open up space for new joint initiatives in the interest of the citizens of the two countries.
