BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Uzbek Senate Speaker Tanzila Narbaeva in Belgrade on Wednesday to discuss further advancement of Serbia-Uzbekistan relations, noting that there is significant space to expand cooperation and create new opportunities for economic growth.
In a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account, Vucic wrote that special emphasis had been placed on strengthening economic ties, boosting trade and encouraging new investment initiatives.
"We reviewed opportunities for forging more intensive ties between our companies and institutions, as well as for launching joint projects in agriculture, energy, transport, infrastructure, information technologies and digital transformation. We agreed that there is significant space to expand cooperation and create new opportunities for economic growth," Vucic posted.
He added that, during the discussion, attention had also been devoted to advancement of contacts between business communities and scientific and educational institutions, as well as to development of cooperation in innovation, tourism and culture, which he noted could further contribute to ties between the two nations.
Vucic noted that the meeting with Narbaeva had also addressed the role of parliamentary institutions in strengthening of inter-state relations and that they had agreed that "open political dialogue represents an important pillar of support for implementation of joint initiatives and long-term development goals."
He added that Narbaeva had conveyed to him the greetings of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and that a mutual readiness to further strengthen friendly and partnership relations had been affirmed at the meeting.
