BELGRADE - Secretary General at the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dusan Kozarev met with Indian Ambassador to Belgrade Abhishek Shukla on Monday to discuss bilateral cooperation, which is based on traditional friendship, as well as economic relations between the two countries.

Kozarev noted that the relations of the two countries were based on mutual respect and a traditional friendship established in the founding days of the Non-Aligned Movement, and added that Serbia was committed to further strengthening of overall cooperation in mutual interest.

Touching upon bilateral economic ties, Kozarev pointed out significant opportunities to deepen them further, especially in information technologies, in view of India's leading position in the global IT sector, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

Kozarev conveyed Serbia's gratitude to India for its consistent support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia and for its unchanged position of not recognising the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called "Kosovo."

Shukla confirmed India's commitment to further strengthening the bilateral ties with Serbia, along with stepping up high- and top-level contacts.

Shukla also conveyed ambitious visions aimed at bolstering the property portfolio of the Indian embassy in Serbia and investing into its infrastructure.

The parties agreed to work together on the visibility of each country's presence in the capital of the other country.
