BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on Friday in Belgrade with Greek FM Giorgos Gerapetritis to discuss further strengthening of Serbia-Greece relations, the region's European perspective and preservation of peace and stability in the Western Balkans.
"A cordial and substantial discussion about further strengthening of Serbia-Greece relations, the region's European perspective, preservation of peace and stability in the Western Balkans, as well as the challenges we face amid complex geopolitical circumstances," Vucic posted on Instagram.
He added that special attention had been devoted to further advancement of cooperation in the energy sector, infrastructure, trade, investment and connectivity between the two countries, and that they had expressed the belief there was great potential for even stronger strategic partnership between Serbia and Greece.
"I reiterated the gratitude to Greece for the continued support for Serbia's EU path and for understanding our country's position when it comes to the most important state and national issues. We exceptionally appreciate Greece's principled and consistent attitude to respect for international law and the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia," Vucic noted.
He added that the meeting was just a follow-up to the good and open dialogue he had had with Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis at a Tivat summit and another confirmation of the true friendship and traditionally close ties between Serbia and Greece.
