BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Wednesday she expected elections in the country to be held in the period between late September and November, and noted that they would certainly be "the most important elections in the history of Serbia."
"The only institution that has the authority to call those elections is the president of the Republic," Brnabic told Radio Belgrade, adding that President Aleksandar Vucic himself had given a similar time frame.
"So that is when I expect them to take place," she said.
The global situation is becoming increasingly complex for countries that want to pursue independent policies while also being on the EU path, Brnabic said, adding that, for that reason, she hoped Vucic would accept a proposal by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party to be a candidate for PM.
