Xi: I attach great significance to development of Sino-Serbian relations

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received on Thursday a letter from Chinese President Xi Jinping in which the Chinese leader noted that he attached great significance to development of Sino-Serbian relations and that, during Vucic's recent visit to China, he had been impressed by the Serbian president's deep responsibility towards his country and his people.

"I attach great significance to development of Sino-Serbian relations and I stand ready to maintain regular communication you and to lead, together with you, the building of a China-Serbia community with a shared future in a new era towards more accomplishments so that we contribute even more to the well-being of the peoples of our two countries," Xi wrote in the letter.

According to a statement released by the press office of the president of Serbia, Xi noted that a Friendship Medal he had bestowed upon Vucic during his visit was a token of a years-long, deep friendship and a testimony to a step forward in the development of the relations between the two countries.

"During your recent successful visit to China, we exchanged views in detail and reached a broad consensus, whereby a new plan was developed for continuous promotion of building a China-Serbia community with a shared future in a new era. We cordially discussed the China-Serbia friendship, exchanged views on state governance and the international situation, and your responsibility towards your country and your people deeply impressed me," Xi wrote in the letter.

"I wish good health and success in your work to you, prosperity and progress to friendly Serbia and peace and happiness to its people," the Chinese leader concluded.

At Xi's invitation, Vucic paid a state visit to China on May 24-28 and held a series of bilateral meetings with top Chinese state officials and representatives of leading companies and institutions.
