BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian operating team for EU accession Danijel Apostolovic, who is also Serbia's chief negotiator in the accession talks and head of its Mission to the EU, said on Thursday the country had also met additional conditions for opening Cluster 3 in the talks and that the EU had acknowledged that in recommending again that the cluster be opened.

At a working meeting with representatives of negotiating groups, Apostolovic said it was now up to the EU member states to decide on giving consent for opening the cluster, and added that Serbia must continue to work on other elements of the negotiating process and that implementing the recommendations from the European Commission's regular annual report for 2025 in all areas, clusters and chapters was crucial, the Ministry of European Integration said in a statement.

The progress made in the implementation of the recommendations was also reviewed at the meeting, as were activities that needed to be finalised in the period to come, with the end of August as the deadline for submitting information to the EU about the steps taken.

Apostolovic noted that little time remained until the expiry of the deadline and called on all relevant institutions to invest maximum efforts in the coming weeks to enable Serbia to present the best possible results in that regard.
