BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met on Thursday with Mexican Ambassador to Belgrade Carlos Felix to discuss further advancement of bilateral relations and strengthening of cooperation in areas of common interest.

"Macut emphasised that Serbia highly appreciates Mexico’s principled stance and consistent support for preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as its unchanged position regarding the non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo," a government statement said.

"At the meeting, it was assessed that the two countries cherish traditionally friendly relations, based on mutual respect and understanding.

The interlocutors discussed opportunities for intensifying economic cooperation, primarily in the areas of the economy and industry, as well as improving cooperation in other sectors of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister emphasised that Serbia attaches great importance to the further development of relations with Mexico," it also said.

The ambassador noted that this year marked 80 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and that Mexico was committed to strengthening further the cooperation with Serbia.
