KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The lawyer of Nikola Nedeljkovic, a Serb arrested by Pristina's police at Gazimestan in June, confirmed to Tanjug on Wednesday her client had been released from detention in Kosovska Mitrovica and was on his way to central Serbia.
Jovana Filipovic said Nedeljkovic had been released at around 10 am but had still not reunited with his family.
She said Nedeljkovic had been ordered to leave Kosovo and handed a one-year ban on entry to the province.
Nedeljkovic, a 20-year-old Belgrader, was arrested in the Gazimestan memorial complex near Pristina after a St Vitus's Day commemoration on June 28.
He was charged with "inciting ethnic hatred and intolerance" and sentenced to eight months in prison by a Pristina Basic Court, but an appeals court reduced the sentence earlier this month.
Nedeljkovic spent two months in detention.
