Protest note presented to Albanian embassy over burning of Serbian flag inTirana

BELGRADE - The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday it had presented a note of protest to the Albanian embassy in Belgrade, condemning in the strongest terms the unacceptable act of the burning of the Serbian state flag on Tirana's central Skanderbeg square, shown in footage published by internet media portals on November 20.

"We believe that incidents like this one are detrimental to bilateral relations between the two countries, which have in the past several years reached their historical high point in the centuries-long shared history," the ministry said in a statement.

In that spirit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia expects the relevant institutions in Albania to do everything in their power to identify and try the perpetrators of this heinous act, who are clearly visible in the published footage, as well as to also inform Serbian institutions of this through diplomatic channels within a reasonable period of time, the statement said.
