BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday a major, 311 mln euro defence industry contract had been signed with a friendly country.
Speaking to reporters at the Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlovic Air Base in Batajnica, Vucic declined to elaborate but noted that the other party was not an African country.
"We have signed a 311 mln euro contract. I cannot say more because I am waiting for their parliament and their president to complete the procedures," he said.
Commenting on reports the contract pertained to exports of 48 Serbian-made howitzers, Vucic replied that 48 155 mm howitzers were capable of defending an entire country.
"That is a huge order. But there are other things, too - we are talking to other countries as well. They would all like to get a lot of things from Serbia, just like we want to get things from abroad," Vucic said.
