Petkovic: International law is there to stop little bullies like Kurti

BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija Petar Petkovic said on Wednesday international law was the only determinant of the status of Kosovo-Metohija.

"The fact Albin Kurti is doggedly trying to present the NATO aggression on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia or the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo-Metohija as irrevocable and binding facts confirms that both he and politically like-minded individuals are removed from reality and that they believe the law of force is stronger than the force of law," Petkovic said in an statement released by the Office.

In terms of international law, Kosovo-Metohija has nothing to do with Kurti's perception of reality or the desires of separatists in Pristina because the UN and the majority of countries of the world do not recognise the territory as a state, but as an autonomous province of Serbia, Petkovic said.

"Every day, Kurti can keep selling smoke to media in countries that recognise the secession of a part of Serbian territory, ignoring international law, but, except for the fact that that pleases Kurti's vanity, it in no way affects the fact that Kosovo-Metohija is a part of Serbia under interim international administation," Petkovic said.

Unlike Kurti, Serbia and its President Aleksandar Vucic have an attitude to this key state and national issue that is not based on fantasies, but on facts that are solid and undeniable in terms of international law, he said.

"The very reason international law exists is to keep little bullies like Albin Kurti from starting fires when they wish to and from imposing their will by force, but since he has lost contact with reality and believes he is someone very important to say the least, Kurti is doggedly refusing to realise that," Petkovic concluded.
