Vucic speaks with Israel's Herzog

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic spoke on the phone with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, wishing the people of Israel and Jews around the world that they may achieve progress in peace in the New Year.

Vucic and Herzog agreed that Serbia-Israel relations needed to reflect the close ties between the two peoples and said they expected the cooperation to become more diverse and to expand to various fields, the press office of the Serbian president said in a statement.

Vucic and Herzog said they hoped Serbia and Israel would establish more frequent contacts to allow for permanent discussions on topics of mutual interest.

The two presidents also said they hoped they could meet soon.

Herzog congratulated Vucic on the Serbian Progressive Party's win in the recent parliamentary elections and said he expected that the unchanged political circumstances would ensure stable development to Serbia as well as that Serbia would stay a mutually beneficial course of development of its cooperation with Israel.
