BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija Petar Petkovic said Monday's decision to grant the so-called Kosovo associate membership status in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly laid bare the entire Western policy of double standards.

In a statement, Petkovic said the West had once again rewarded Pristina for all its violations of agreements and for its terror against Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.

"What are the Western sanctions against Pristina about when, under those sanctions, the so-called Kosovo has been granted visa liberalisation and is taking part in all international conferences and advancing towards certain international organisations?" Petkovic asked.

"Does the status promotion to NATO PA associate membership reward (Pristina's PM Albin) Kurti and Pristina for the shootings of Srecko Sofronijevic, Dragisa Galjak and cousins Stefan and Milos Stojanovic? Did they earn the status with the anniversary of the raid and the takeover of municipalities in the north of Kosovo-Metohija, which they are holding against the will of the Serb-majority population in the north, which they are harassing and disenfranchising day and night, or do they deserve the status by having denied entry to Serbian goods to Kosovo-Metohija for 12 months? Is Pristina's refusal to establish a Community of Serb Municipalities after more than 11 years a merit for getting associate membership status in the NATO PA?" Petkovic noted.

It is clear as day that Kurti's terror is being met with open support from major powers that are ready to turn a blind eye on all the misdeeds of the Pristina regime if it suits their geopolitical interests, Petkovic added, noting that "no guarantees by either the EU or NATO are valid when it comes to the Serbs."

"We have quite seen through these games by Kurti and the West and we will certainly not fall for them. Our job is to protect peace and the Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija, and we will continue to do so however difficult the circumstances may be," Petkovic said.
