BELGRADE - With nearly 50,000 votes cast, the second round of a vote to name the EXPO 2027 Belgrade mascots is officially over.
Two cute superheroes of play will be the ambassadors of not only EXPO 2027, but also of Belgrade and entire Serbia, connecting visitors of all ages through messages of cooperation, innovation and togetherness.
The name pairs that remain in contention are Sava and Nada, Rastko and Milica and Momcilo and Tamara, after winning both the "hearts of the audience and the highest number of votes," the EXPO 2027 enterprise said in a statement.
The male name Sava is a reference to the Sava River, which flows into the Danube in Belgrade, while the female name Nada is Serbian for "Hope".
The male name Rastko and the female name Milica convey a deep connection with Serbian history, while Momcilo is another traditional Serbian male name.
The vote on the EXPO 2027 Belgrade website continues, with the winning names to be announced in the autumn.
