BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut visited Belgrade's Church of St Sava on Tuesday, extending his Christmas Eve and Christmas Day greetings to the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church and to the faithful and expressing a wish that this year be one of peace, prosperity and unity.
"It is my exceptional honour and pleasure to extend my greetings for today's holiday, Christmas Eve, to Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church and all believers who celebrate Christmas by the Julian calendar, and to wish them a merry Christmas, with a wish that the year that is ahead of us be much more peaceful, more prosperous and that we may spend it in peace and well-being that must result from unity and concord, which must exist and which are a symbol of the Serbs," Macut said.
He expressed his gratitude to the clergy of the Church of St Sava for an invitation to visit the church and spend Christmas Eve with them.
"I am exceptionally pleased to be here, to share the joy of the day that is ahead of us, Christmas, which represents a day that unifies the people, a belief in the future and something that connects us - family," Macut noted.
