SUBOTICA - A task force set up by Serbian police to tackle people smuggling and irregular migration on Thursday found 109 irregular migrants near Subotica, northern Serbia, including 25 people "of security interest" who will be subject to measures pursuant to the law, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said the group included two people wanted by foreign police services for several different criminal offences.
During a raid in the Radanovac Forest area, the police also found an automatic rifle with two magazines, ammunition and a small quantity of marijuana.
Irregular migrants who are not of security interest will be transferred to reception centres.
In a separate operation, the police found 93 migrants in the Horgos area and they, too, will be transferred to reception centres.
Earlier in the day, an Interior Ministry source told Tanjug the police had arrested two men in the Subotica area - an Afghan army general and a sniper for whom France has issued international arrest warrants for the most serious criminal offences and terrorism.
