Pesic: We are not thinking about Americans too much, we want to do our best

BELGRADE - The head coach of the Serbia men's national basketball team Svetislav Pesic said on Friday his players were not "thinking about the Americans too much" ahead of Sunday's Olympic clash with the USA.

"We are not thinking about the Americans too much, we really are not. We want to do our best at any given time. As you said, the first game is important but hopefully it will not be a decisive one, whichever way it goes," Pesic told the RTS.

In Group C of the Olympic tournament, Serbia play the USA in Lille at 5.15 pm on Sunday.

Shooting guard Vanja Marinkovic said the USA was the favorite but that Serbia still had aces in its sleeve.

"It will certainly be difficult, they are a team that is going for gold. So are we, of course, but they are bigger favourites than we are. We did not have Bogdan (Bogdanovic), (Dejan) Davidovac and (Nikola) Milutinov in the preparatory game so we did not reveal all the aces in our sleeve," Marinkovic said.

Point guard Aleksa Avramnovic said the atmosphere in the team was excellent.

"The team is training well and cannot wait for the game against America," he added.
