SHANGHAI - Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has confirmed he will be competing at the upcoming Shanghai Masters, the tournament organisers announced on Tuesday.
Djokovic, who became an Olympic champion on Sunday, has not played in Shanghai for five years.
The Shanghai Masters, to be held from September 29 through October 13, was cancelled in 2020, 2021 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Djokovic has won a record four titles at the Shanghai Masters, lifting his last trophy at the tournament in 2018, when he defeated Croatian Borna Coric in the final.
The current reigning champion in Shanghai is Pole Hubert Hurkacz, who defeated Russian Andrey Rublev in last season's final.
