Danilovic through to Australian Open second round

MELBOURNE - Serbian tennis player Olga Danilovic is through to the Australian Open second round after defeating world number 79 Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands 6-4, 6-4 in the opening round on Monday morning.

Danilovic, who ranks 55th in the WTA rankings, won after an hour and 37 minutes of play and is now 2-1 head-to-head against Rus.

The Serbian will next face Russian Liudmila Samsonova, who beat compatriot Kamilla Rakhimova 6-2, 6-4 in the first round.
