Djokovic beats Faria to advance to Australian Open third round

MELBOURNE - Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic beat Portuguese Jaime Faria 6-1, 6-7/4-7, 6-3, 6-2 in Melbourne on Wednesday to advance to the Australian Open third round.

Djokovic, who won after three hours of play, also played his 430th match at Grand Slam tournaments, officially overtaking Roger Federer in that category.

The Serbian will next face Czech Tomas Machac, who defeated Reilly Opelka in the second round.
