MELBOURNE - Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic retired from the Australian Open semi-final against German Alexander Zverev on Friday after losing the first set.
Despite suffering a muscle tear in the quarter-final against Carlos Alcaraz, Djokovic tried to compete in the semi-final and was on par with Zverev in the first set, but the German won 7-5 after a tie-break.
In Sunday's final, Zverev will face the winner of the tie between defending champion Jannik Sinner of Italy and Ben Shelton of the US.
In the final of the junior men's doubles event, the Serbian-Russian duo of Ognjen Milic and Egor Pleshivtsev lost 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 to the American-Czech pairing of Maxwell Exsted and Jan Kumstat on Friday.
