Djokovic marches into Roland Garros second round

PARIS - Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic is through to the second round of the Roland Garros tournament after a 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 victory over American Mackenzie McDonald in the opening round on Wednesday.

The Serbian, who won after an hour and 57 minutes of play, will next face the winner of an all-French tie between Corentin Moutet and Clement Tabur.

Earlier in the day, Serbians Dusan Lajovic and Laslo Djere suffered early exits from the men's singles event at Roland Garros.

Lajovic lost 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to Kazakhstan's Alexander Shevchenko in the opening round, while Djere was defeated 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) by Australian Alex de Minaur.
