Serbia's Djere defeated in Shanghai Masters first round

SHANGHAI - Serbian tennis player Laslo Djere has failed to qualify for the second round of the Shanghai Masters after losing 6-3, 6-4 to Valentin Vacherot of Monaco in the opening round on Wednesday.

World number 202 Vacherot won after an hour and 25 minutes of play.

Djere ranks 83rd in the ATP rankings.

Vacherot will next face Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik.

The prize money at the Shanghai tournament is 9,193,540 dollars.
