Djokovic beats Cilic to advance to Shanghai Masters third round

SHANGHAI - Serbia's top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic is through to the third round of the Shanghai Masters after a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 victory over Croatian Marin Cilic in the second round of the tournament on Friday.

The Serbian won after an hour and 54 minutes of play.

World number five Djokovic is now 20-2 head-to-head against Cilic, who is placed 94th in the ATP rankings.

Djokovic will next face German Yannick Hanfmann, who defeated American Frances Tiafoe earlier in the day.

The prize money at the Shanghai Masters is 9,193,540 dollars.
