Basketball Federation of Serbia suspends referee Uros Nikolic

BELGRADE - President of the Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS) Refereeing Commission Milorad Milojkovic has suspended referee Uros Nikolic on suspicion of committing an offence that may result in suspension from refereeing duties, the KSS official website said on Thursday.

In a statement, the KSS said Nikolic had been suspended pursuant to Article 5, Paragraph 1, Point 7 of the Rules on KSS Officials, in conjunction with Article 50 of the KSS Disciplinary Rules.

"The decision will be submitted to the Refereeing Commission for further disciplinary proceedings, based on the KSS Disciplinary Rules," reads the decision, signed by Milojkovic.

Serbian media outlets have reported that Nikolic was arrested in a major police operation on Wednesday, on suspicion of being a part of an organised crime group suspected of serious criminal acts.
