Medjedovic defeated by De Minaur in Australian Open second round

MELBOURNE - Serbian tennis player Hamad Medjedovic has failed to qualify for the Australian Open third round after a 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 defeat to Australian Alex de Minaur in the second round on Wednesday.

World number six De Minaur won the encounter against Medjedovic - who ranks 90th in the ATP rankings - after three hours and four minutes of play.

The match was suspended for half an hour due to rain.

Earlier, Serbian Olga Danilovic lost 6-2, 6-2 to American Coco Gauff in the second round of the women's singles event after an hour and 18 minutes of play.
