Agreement signed on relocation of European Aquatics headquarters to Belgrade

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Sports Zoran Gajic and European Aquatics (EA) President Antonio Silva signed on Monday an agreement on a relocation of the EA headquarters to Belgrade.

Gajic said the relocation was a major feat for Serbian sports and Serbia.

"This is important for our country's global image. So, for the first time, the headquarters of a sport will be in this part of Europe. Of course, World Aquatics is headquartered in Budapest, while European Aquatics will be headquartered here. This is the first step to a relocation of at least five offices of various confederations of various sports," Gajic told Tanjug.

Silva said the relocation to Belgrade was an important move for the organisation and that Belgrade and Serbia had successfully hosted the European water polo championship.

In Sunday's final at the Belgrade Arena, the Serbia men's national water polo team beat Hungary 10-7 to win the gold medal.

Between 2015 and 2026, the EA headquarters was in Nyon, Switzerland.

The agreement on its relocation to Belgrade was signed for a period of ten years.
