Serbia lose to Greece at water polo world cup qualifying tournament

ALEXANDROUPOLI - The Serbia men's national water polo team lost 16-15 (3-4, 4-7, 6-3, 3-1) to Greece in a Round 2, Group A match of the World Cup 2026 Division 1 qualifying tournament in Alexandroupoli, Greece, on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Hungary defeated the Netherlands 16-15 on penalties in the other Group A match.

Hungary are on top of the group table with five points and are followed by Greece and Serbia with three points each and the Netherlands with zero points.

Serbia next face Hungary on Wednesday.

The best five teams at the tournament will secure berths at the 2026 World Aquatics Water Polo World Cup in Sydney, to be played from July 22 through 26.
