Djokovic beats Perricard to advance to Roland Garros second round

PARIS - Serbia's top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic has got off to a successful start at Roland Garros after a 5-7, 7-5, 6-1, 6-4 first-round victory over Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard on Sunday evening.

Djokovic, who won after two hours and 51 minutes of play, will next face another Frenchman, Valentin Royer.

Earlier, Serbia's Hamad Medjedovic beat German Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-4, 6-7 (1-7), 6-4 in the opening round, while his compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic defeated Hungarian Fabian Marozsan (7-6 (7-0), 6-3, 6-4).
