Djokovic to face China's Yibing Wu in Wimbledon first round

LONDON - Serbia's top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic was on Friday drawn to face Yibing Wu in the first round of this season's Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament, with Miomir Kecmanovic to play defending champion and top favourite Jannik Sinner of Italy.

The encounter with Wu will be Djokovic's first-ever match against the world number 99 from China.

If he defeats Wu, seventh-seeded Djokovic, who has seven career Wimbledon titles, will face the winner of the tie between Frenchman Hugo Gaston and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round.

The Serbian will then most likely face Arthur Rinderknech in the third round and Russian Andrey Rublev or Brazilian Joao Fonseca in the fourth round.

His most likely potential opponents in the quarter-finals and the semi-finals would be Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime and Sinner, respectively.

Serbia's Hamad Medjedovic will face Austrian Sebastian Ofner in the opening round.

Eighteen-year-old Teodora Kostovic, the only Serbian in the women's singles event, will make her Wimbledon debut against world number one Aryna Sabalenka od Belarus in the first round.

Djokovic beats Paul in London exhibition match

LONDON - Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic defeated American Tommy Paul 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 7-5 at the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic exhibition tournament in Hurlingham, London, on Friday.

The match was Djokovic's last test before this season's Wimbledon, which begins on June 29.

Djokovic was on Friday drawn to play China's Yibing Wu in the first round of the tournament.
