Kecmanovic through to Montreal Masters second round

MONTREAL - Serbian tennis player Miomir Kecmanovic is through to the Montreal Masters second round after a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) first-round victory over American Michael Zheng on Tuesday.

On Sunday evening, the match was suspended due to a rain delay as Kecmanovic and Zheng were tied 1-1 in sets.

When the match resumed, Kecmanovic claimed the third set after a tie-break to progress to the second round.

Kecmanovic, who won after two hours and 47 minutes of play, will next face Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech.

Kecmanovic has a 1-2 head-to-head ratio against Rinderknech.

The prize money at the Montreal Masters is 9,415,724 dollars.
