Djokovic gets off to winning start to Wimbledon title defence

LONDON - Serbia's top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic is through to the second round at Wimbledon after defeating Argentine Pedro Cachin 6-3, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) on Monday.

Defending champion Djokovic, who won after two hours and 14 minutes of play, will next face Australian Jordan Thompson, who beat American Brandon Nakashima in the opening round.

World number 70 Thompson has never played against Djokovic, who ranks second in the ATP rankings.

The prize money at Wimbledon is 44.7 mln pounds.
