Djere defeated in Wimbledon first round

LONDON - Serbian tennis player Laslo Djere has suffered an early exit from Wimbledon after losing 3-6, 7-6(7-4), 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 to Frenchman Lucas Pouille in the first round on Wednesday.

Pouille won after a total of two hours and 53 minutes of play.

The encounter began on Tuesday but was interrupted by a rain delay, with the score tied 1-1 in sets.

Getting off to a better start as the match resumed on Wednesday, Djere took the third set but the Frenchman managed to come from behind to win and qualify for the second round.
